GOSHEN — Goshen artists hope to make the city the 12th in Indiana to get a formal cultural district designation.

The Goshen Common Council on Tuesday voted to declare the downtown area the Arts and Culture District in a bid to receive recognition from the state. The city will seek certification from the Indiana Arts Commission, an agency that gives local grants and other support for the arts.
