GOSHEN — The Town of Middlebury hopes to get county stormwater funding help toward a $4.9 million sewer extension project, which could save residents about $480,000.

Middlebury Town Manager Mary Cripe and Town Council President Miranda Cripe asked the Elkhart County Stormwater Board on Monday to help cover sewer connection costs for residents of the Westlake Estates subdivision. After several years of discussing the plan to extend infrastructure to homes in the subdivision at the southwest edge of Middlebury, the town may move ahead to coincide with the widening of U.S. 20 by the Indiana Department of Transportation.
