GOSHEN — All school districts in Elkhart County have submitted reopening plans as they get the green light to resume classes, but some private schools are still pending, county health officials learned Thursday.

Elkhart County Health Officer Dr. Lydia Mertz on Friday gave the recommendation that schools open for in-person instruction. The decision to open is made by each school corporation, based on advice from the health department, but she said they have seen the positivity rates for COVID-19 start to decline as they were looking for.
