GOSHEN — County officials have rescinded fines meant to back up COVID-19 safety orders for businesses.

The Elkhart County Board of Commissioners on Monday voted to remove the section on fines from a Nov. 30 ordinance passed near the height of the pandemic. The penalties ranged from $50 to $250 – and could add up to $2,500 or $5,000 a day – for violations such as failing to post a sign requiring face masks after receiving a warning.
