25-year-old dead after Elkhart shooting

ELKHART — A 25-year-old Elkhart man died Sunday after a reported shooting, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

At 1:35 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to 323 Sherman St. in regards to a shooting with injuries that occurred in front of the residence.

Officers found an injured man, Ishmael Porter, who was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Porter was later pronounced dead, according to police.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was called in to work on the case.

There had been no arrests at around 1 p.m. Sunday.
