Pets rescued from Marion Street house fire

Elkhart Fire Department work on suppressing a house fire at 927 W. Marion St. on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

ELKHART – The Elkhart Fire Department responded to a house fire at 927 W. Marion Street at 11:12 a.m., according to West Johnson, Battalion Chief. 

"We arrived to find the fire located on the second floor. Crews made an interior attack, knocking the fire down," said Johnson. 

According to Johnson, there are no reports of injuries, but there were dogs inside the structure, and have been rescued.

The structure appeared to be unoccupied, but according to Johnson, someone does live in the house but wasn't home during the fire.
