ELKHART — The Martin's Super Market on Jackson Boulevard will close in mid-February despite reports it would remain open until a new grocery next door is finished.

The existing store was expected to remain open until the late summer when a new Martin's Super Market under construction at the same site was compled. The chain's marketing director, Krista Wendt, confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the store will close in Feburary.

While the construction may play a large part of it, it is not the only thing. Personnel changes are a big one for me. A lot of the new employees now do not seem to have that "upscale service" previous employees provided. I haven't been out to the store on the northside, but the southside and eastside stores have better understanding of keeping up with the Martin's traditions we have grown to know and love.

First lets see if they can get the construction done and store open by October this year. Based on what we have seen with others, that's already is in question.
