ELKHART — An Elkhart man is accused of attempted murder in connection with a June incident that left a man shot in the back and several homes and a church damaged.

Jonathan Sesmas, 20, is charged with attempted murder, a Level 1 felony, and criminal recklessness by shooting a firearm in a building, a Level 5 felony, in court filings made Thursday. Police believe he’s responsible for firing at least 16 shots in the southwest part of the city on June 16, striking a man, a car and several buildings.
