GOSHEN — Goshen can use city staff to enforce county health orders related to COVID-19 after a council vote Monday.

Goshen Common Council passed an ordinance that authorizes the mayor to designate city personnel who can enforce a series of health and safety rules that were recently established by the county. Elkhart City Council introduced a similar measure Monday but did not move it to a second reading immediately, despite Mayor Rod Roberson's request that the council fast-track the proposed ordinance.

No, they will not enter homes. The following should answer your question about organizations:

"For purposes of this Order, except as outlined in Sections III.0 and D below, all businesses and entities situated or operating in the County of Elkhart are covered by directives in this Order and include any for-profit, non-profit or educational entity, regardless of the nature of the service, the function it performs, or its corporate or entity structure."
