Elkhart police recover 3 handguns, stash of drugs from car

ELKHART — Two men were arrested on gun and drug charges after a traffic stop in Elkhart on Thursday turned up three handguns, meth and marijuana.

When Elkhart Police Department officers made the traffic stop at Sterling and East Indiana avenues Thursday at 5:40 p.m., the driver and a back seat passenger started reaching around the interior of the vehicle as if they were trying to retrieve or hide something, according to Elkhart police spokesman Sgt. Chris Snyder.
