ELKHART — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, seeking the Democratic nomination to run for president in 2020, will visit Elkhart next week, her campaign announced Tuesday.
Warren will host a "community conversation" at Southgate Crossing's Harvest Hall, 27751 C.R. 26, beginning at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 5.
Doors open at 10:15 a.m., according to Warren's website, where people interested in attending can request admission.
Warren will be the first Democrat seeking the party's nomination to host a campaign event in Elkhart in this election cycle. President Donald Trump visited Elkhart in May 2018, and former President Barack Obama has visited Elkhart on several occasions, including during the 2008 Democratic presidential primary.
Warren also plans to visit Detroit and Lansing next week as she makes her first campaign swing through Michigan. The senior senator from Massachusetts will host both events on Tuesday.
Warren is among 23 Democrats competing to take on Trump next fall.
Michigan’s presidential primary election is set for March 10. In Indiana, the primary is May 5.
