Axon presentation police body cam footage

During a presentation on Feb. 17, Axon representatives showed how conversations in body camera recordings are automatically transcribed, identifying what each speaker says. Videos can then be searched by individual words. The technology also allows police to easily blur faces and license plates in case footage needs to be shared with the public, Axon representatives said.

ELKHART — A $7.3 million, 10-year deal for police equipment and a records management system has been put on hold.

Axon – the company the city is looking to contract with for stun guns, body cameras, dashboard cameras, interview room cameras, virtual reality training and a new records management system – recently gave a presentation that impressed members of the City Council, but questions have since come up that meant the deal, which was scheduled for approval Monday, was tabled.
