ELKHART — The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department has deemed a recent report of an abduction attempt in Bristol as noncredible.

At 4:38 p.m. April 2, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Monterey Drive, south of Knobcone Court in Bristol, after being alerted by a 12-year-old girl that a male subject in a passenger car attempted to talk her into getting in his vehicle.

After gathering detailed information from the juvenile, Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to locate the suspect for questioning. Upon further investigation, Sheriff’s Office detectives determined that no criminal activity had occurred and no charges have been filed.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to immediately report that information by calling the nonemergency phone number 574-533-4151 or 911 in the case of an emergency.
