Former Elkhart Police Chief Chris Snyder, who served as assistant chief for the past year, retired Thursday after 24 years with the Elkhart Police Department.

ELKHART — Assistant Police Chief Chris Snyder retired Thursday after 24 years with the Elkhart Police Department.

Hired in September 1997, Snyder served in many roles, including in the K9 unit, as a detective in the County Homicide Unit and as the public information officer. Snyder was chief of police from January 2019 to July 2020 and has served as assistant chief since then.
