ELKHART — As a student, Willow Townsend has typically underestimated her reading and writing skills, according to her mother. But after earning a spot in a national elite competition, it’s evident she was mistaken.
“She doesn’t give herself enough credit for her reading and writing abilities; her favorite subject is actually music and art,” said her mother, Ashlee Townsend. “She’s very much a perfectionist so she tends to be very critical of herself.”
