Romayne Boggs celebrating her 100th birthday

Romayne Boggs will be 100 on March 13.

GOSHEN — Romayne Boggs, of Goshen, formerly of Brighton, Ind., will be honored for her 100th birthday Sunday, March 12.

She was born March  13, 1917, in Casperville, Ind., the youngest of five children to Walter and Phoebe Jane Gibson.  

Her father was a Church of the Brethren preacher.  

She graduated from Brighton High School.

She married Mark Agley in 1935.  They had three children,  Twyla (Gerald, deceased) Dudley of Scottsdale, Ariz., Robert (Kathy) Agley of Monticello and Dan (Kathy Sue) Agley of Elliston.    

Mark was struck by lightning in the barnyard and died in 1948.

On June 3, 1951, she married Orlin Boggs in Brighton. 

Orlin had five boys and one girl, Duane (Arlys) Boggs of  Howe, Dick (Gerrie) Boggs of White Water, Colo., Danny Boggs of Indianapolis and Diane (Robert) Robinson of Middlebury.  Two sons, Dave (Connie, widow) and Dennis, are both deceased.  

Orlin died July 3, 2009.  His first wife, Clara (Bowman), died when their twins were born in 1950.

Orlin and Romayne had one daughter, Sally (Mark) Hans of Mishawaka.

She was a full-time homemaker.

They were farmers and longtime residents of Brighton. 

The family was very active in the community.  

Orlin and Romayne  traveled extensively as Orlin was president of LaGrange County Farm Bureau for many years.

Boggs has 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way.  

She also has a sister-in-law, Lois (Wayne, deceased) Larimer of LaGrange and several nieces and nephews.

An open house will be at the Cambridge Village Club House, Bradenton, Fla., from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday, March 12.
