GOSHEN — Teacher appreciation week began Monday and to show their appreciation, the Chandler Elementary School PTO covered the sidewalks of the school in chalk with full thank you notes and art.

The activity was organized late Sunday afternoon so the messages would be in place when teachers arrived at school Monday morning.

“This is just one way we thought we could start off the week,” Gretchen Morningstar, Chandler PTO member, said.

Throughout the week, they have many more activities planned for the teachers. Each teacher is admired with a list of their specific superpowers, as noted by children in their class, because teachers are superheroes, after all.

The PTO will also provide coffee from the Electric Brew for each of the teachers at the school.

“Any little thing we can do to encourage them and thank them for all that they do, that’s what we’re doing.”

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 7 through May 11. Contact your local school to find out happenings and get involved.
