Bethany chess teams perform well at state chess tourney

Chess teams from Bethany Christian Schools fared well at a state tournament on Saturday.

The high school chess team of Tim Cartmel, Simon Graber-Miller, Kameron Branum and Joseph Mounsithiraj placing fourth of 21 teams.

The eighth grade and under team, which included Cameron Heinisch, Kayden Mayer, Matthew Dyck, JJ Fleming and Josiah Schlabach placed ninth out of 28 teams.

The sixth and under team finished 15th out of 53 teams. The team included Jayden Schlabach, Shemaya Magatti, Branden Diener, Kaylee Woelk, Nestor Sanchez and Benji Fleming.
