Shoppers enter and exit the Walmart on C.R. 6 in Elkhart on Friday. Starting Monday, Hoosiers will have to wear a mask whenever they are in a public or retail building or cannot maintain a safe distance outside.

ELKHART — Elkhart County Sheriff Jeff Siegel said his department will not enforce a statewide mask order that goes into effect Monday.

Gov. Eric Holcomb revised his order Friday saying he would remove a penalty provision.

As an opinion, why don't we give masks the benefit of the doubt, give them an all out age 8-80 effort and compliance for say, 45-60 days. It will ether prove worth or not. If they don't dramatically change things for the better, then don't bring them up again....
