The City of Elkhart will launch a grant program for small local businesses that have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

ELKHART — Small local businesses that can document negative impacts from the pandemic may be able to receive funds through the City of Elkhart, which will make a total of $400,000 available next month.

The City Council on Monday appropriated the funds, which are part of the roughly $19 million that the city received through the federal American Rescue Plan, which is intended to help communities get through and recover from the pandemic.

It will be interesting to see where this money goes. They don’t know how a business can demonstrate it was harmed by COVID but already know they need more money. What could possibly go wrong?

Its no different than PPP money. Many businesses took it even thought it was unneeded { Most did need it though} and with a little deft accounting and the right banker, had the entire amount written off.... A taxpayer gift to these businesses...
