Antisdel honored in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE — The American Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne was scheduled to honor Elkhart native and 1981 Concord High School graduate Tom Antisdel during its Silver Medal Awards Luncheon.

Antisdel, vice president and general manager at WANE-TV, has been with the broadcasting company for 28 years.

The luncheon at the Fort Wayne Country Club was scheduled for June 6. The American Advertising Federation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and improving the advertising industry.

Elkhart Plastics promotes Myers

SOUTH BEND — Elkhart Plastics Inc. has announced the promotion of Brian Myers to corporate compliance manager. Myers has worked for the company since 2013 as quality manager for the South Bend facility.

In his new role, Myers will actively assist EPI’s corporate team and all six company facilities in maintaining and improving compliance to ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standards and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Standards. The six facilities are located in South Bend, Elkhart and Middlebury, in Indiana; and in Littleton, Colorado, Ridgefield, Washington, and Atlantic, Iowa.

He will also coordinate third party audits and assist department leaders at each location with their understanding of applicable standards. Myers will continue to be based in EPI’s corporate office in South Bend.

“Brian has been a valuable member of our South Bend team for the last six years,” Jack Welter, CEO of EPI, says. “His deep understanding of the various regulations and standards will now be shared with all locations in his corporate role.”

“Elkhart Plastics is a really good company. I am excited to help make EPI an even better company by utilizing best practices of the ISO standards and embracing our responsibility for environmental stewardship,” Myers said.

Prior to joining EPI, Myers worked at a metal finishing company. He is a graduate of Purdue University.

Outside of work, Myers enjoys woodworking. He is also a licensed commercial pilot and aircraft mechanic.

Eyemart Express comes to Elkhart

ELKHART— Leading national optical retailer Eyemart Express was scheduled to open its first store in Elkhart on Saturday at 4542 Elkhart Road, marking the company’s third location in Indiana and creating 10 new jobs.

Eyemart Express provides high-quality prescription eyewear at affordable prices, the company said. Onsite labs in every store allow 90 percent of glasses to be delivered on the same day – some in as little as 30 minutes. The Elkhart store carries more than 2,000 frames from brands such as Fendi, Gucci, Ray-Ban and Columbia.

A grand opening event Saturday included live remotes with WZOC-FM and WFRN-FM, prizes from the Wheel of #FrameandFortune, and a special giveaway: The first 25 families at the event will receive a voucher for one free pair of kid’s glasses. Veterans and school faculty and staff also received discounts.
