COLUMBIA, S.C. — Elizabeth “Betsy” Boyd and Captain Robert “Ryan” Purdie were married Dec. 8, 2012, in the Three Rivers Room at Laurel Crest in Columbia.
The bride, who formerly lived in Holmes Beach, Fla., is the daughter of Allen Smith of Holmes Beach and Ceci (Robert) Gosling of Bradenton, Fla. The groom, who formerly lived in Elkhart, Ind., is the son of Greg and Lori Purdie.
Elizabeth Chiaffredo was the matron of honor. Robert Smith, the bride’s brother, gave her away in marriage. Travis Purdie, the groom’s brother, was best man. Bryce McMillan was groomsman.
The ceremony was performed by Ryan’s close friend, Maj. Amanda Kane, with whom he was deployed in Afghanistan from 2011-12. Betsy and Ryan added their own beautiful vows to each other. Ryan’s sister, Kelly, read a poem that started the happy tears for all attending the ceremony.
Betsy is a home health specialist with Gentiva Home Health Services. Ryan is a member of South Carolina Army National Guard and is the Strategic Plans Officer at the Joint Operations Center in Columbia.
