 Morgan Miller, a Northridge High School graduate, is the Crossroads League Vollleyball Freshman of the Year. She played her first college season at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.

Other area first-teamers include Amanda Troyer, Melanie Meyer and Missy Mackowiak.

The No. 9-ranked Crimson Chargers (29-9) got past regionals for the first time since 2009. The season ended with a semistate finals loss to No. 5 Carmel.

Crimson Chargers top Fort Wayne Carroll and will play Carmel for a berth in the Class 4A state championship.

 An Elkhart Central NIVA meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. in the East Gym at Elkhart Central High School.

Warsaw’s Mike Howard is Northern Lakes Conference coach of the year.

 Krystle Troyer, an IUSB senior, has been named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association all-American second team for volleyball. She is an Elkhart Memorial High School graduate.

Krystle Troyer is a senior outside hitter for the Titans and was also the USCAA player of the week in early October.

 Maggie Gibson (22) and Alyssa Hasler (5) compete at Jimtown on Sept. 10, 2014. Gibson has been named MVP of the Northern Indiana Conference volleyball season. Hasler is also a first-teamer.
