Middlebury squads place high in BPA World Series

U12 Mavericks are runners-up, U11 Thunder third in St. Louis. The Middlebury squads went a combined 44-30 in 2014.

ST. LOUIS — Middlebury teams competed recently in the Baseball Players Association World Series.

The U12 Middlebury Mavericks placed second and the U11 Middlebury Thunder third.

The Mavericks went 23-15 on the 2014 season and won two tournaments to qualify for the 11-team World Series. Indiana Elite topped Middlebury 12-11 in the bottom of the eighth inning in the championship game.

The Thunder went 21-15 on the season.
