Elkhart FOP/IAFF, Concord No. 1 take District 14 Little League All-Stars baseball titles

The Big League Baseball and 50/70 Intermediate Baseball winners were crowned, and the Major Softball final — Concord vs. Middlebury — is slated for Tuesday, July 1, at Osolo.

Elkhart FOP/IAFF won a Big League Baseball championship and Concord No. 1 took a 50/70 Intermediate Baseball title during District 14 Little League All-Stars play Friday through Sunday, June 27-29.

In the Big League final, Elkhart FOP/IAFF bested Osolo 10-5 to move on to the State Finals, beginning Saturday, July 5, in Fort Wayne. Jared Chaney was the winning pitcher in the district title game with six strikeouts.

In the 50-70 Intermediate Baseball championship, Concord No. 1 topped Concord No. 2 by a 20-8 score. The winners belted five home runs — two each for Caleb Whitaker and Brock Eby and one for Camryn Whitehead.

The sectional will be played at Concord, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, July 5. If necessary, a third game will be staged at Concord Sunday, July 6.

The championship for Major Softball was set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Osolo and will feature Concord and Middlebury.
