SYRACUSE — Paige Hlutke, a Wawasee High School senior, has signed to continue her academic and softball careers at Grace College in Winona Lake.
Hlutke earned her third varsity letters as a third-year starting catcher for coach Jared Knipper's Warriors.
As a team captain, she helped Wawasee (20-11) set a school record for single-season victories and take a sectional title in 2014. She also won her first volleyball letter as a junior.
"I was looking for a small, Midwest college that fit with my beliefs and values," said Hlutke. "I've been impressed with what Grace has done with their softball program, and I feel at home with the team and on the campus. I'm excited to continue my softball journey with Grace."
Grace, an NAIA program, is coached by Heather Johnson. The Lancers went 29-30 overall and 19-13 in the Crossroads League in 2014. It was Grace's most wins since 1994. The Lancers came in fourth at the National Christian College Athletic Association national tournament.
