Four Elkhart County schools ranked in latest softball poll

The Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association ranked Penn, Northridge, Marian and Wawasee in the top 10 teams in their classes.

GOSHEN — There are four area top-10 teams in the latest Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association softball rankings.

In Class 4A, there's Penn (No. 3) and Northridge (No. 10).

In 3A, there's Marian (No. 1) and Fairfield (No. 7). Wawasee is a vote-getter in 3A.

Class 4A

1. Crown Point; 2. Franklin Central; 3. PENN; 4 (tie). New Palestine and Hamilton Southeastern; 6. Lafayette Harrison; 7 (tie). Greenwood, Portage and Jennings County; 10. NORTHRIDGE.

Class 3A

1. MARIAN; 2. Gibson Southern; 3. Boonville; 4. Lebanon; 5. South Dearborn; 6. Adams Central; 7. FAIRFIELD; 8. Wheeler; 9. Rochester; 10. Pike Central.

Other area teams receiving votes: WAWASEE, SB St. Joseph.

Class 2A

1. Lakewood Park Christian; 2. Cascade; 3. Wapahani; 4. Evansville Mater Dei; 5. Henryville; 6. Hammond Noll; 7. Eastern (Greentown); 8. Eastside; 9. Seeger; 10. Frankton.

Other area teams receiving votes: Bremen.

Class 1A

1. North Miami; 2 (tie).Tecumseh and Clay City; 4. Rising Sun; 5. Lanesville; 6. South Central (Union Mills); 7. Indianapolis Lutheran; 8. Borden; 9. Caston; 10. Frontier.

Other area teams receiving votes: Triton.




 Elkhart Youth and Community Center soccer league play begins in September.
