NorthWood's Morgan Olson honored for scoring record
Senior stands at 1,535 points entering Feb. 3 game
NAPPANEE — Senior Morgan Olson was saluted Friday, Jan. 31, as the all-time scoring leader in NorthWood High School girls basketball history.
Olson, who broke Natalie Will's school standard early this season, was presented a plaque by principal David Maugel and athletic director Norm Sellers at halftime of the boys game against Warsaw.
Olson has 1,552 career points and a school-record 881 rebounds entering the Panthers' Feb. 7 regular-season finale against Concord.
The point total leaves her exactly even with Andy Hirschy for second place overall at NorthWood, boys and girls.
With an extended postseason run, Olson might have a shot at Ryne Lightfoot's overall school standard, which is 1,673.
