Carson leads Raiders to easy win

Northridge improves to 2-0 with 37-7 win.

SOUTH BEND — Quarterback Payton Carson tossed two touchdown passes and ran for two more to lead Northridge to a 37-7 victory over South Bend Riley in non-conference football action on Friday, Aug. 29.

Carson threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to David Welker and a 45-yarder to Travis Schlabach in the first half, before running for scores from of three and one yard out in the second half to help the Raiders pull away.

In addition to his touchdown reception, Schlabach ran 14 times for 100 yards, leading a Northridge ground attack that totaled 338 yards. Meanwhile, the Raiders’ defense held Riley to -5 yards rushing and recorded a safety for the game’s first score.
