Indiana boys hoops stretches well beyond IHSAA, and here's a site detailing some of it

There are a lot of schools in Indiana playing boys high school basketball besides just those who play it as members of the Indiana High School Athletic Association.

Typically, these other schools are smaller Christian schools, and they’ve had their own series of state tournaments over the years under the direction of varying associations.

Before becoming an IHSAA member in the early 2000s, Elkhart Christian — primarily as Elkhart Baptist — was a perennial Christian school contender.

There’s also been, and continues to be, Clinton Christian, located just outside Goshen, along with Brethren Christian of Osceola, Granger Christian and others in the area.

If you want to know more about these schools, and the history of these tournaments, there is a place for you.

It’s Benj Shirk’s new website, http://www.indianachristianhoops.com/.

Shirk, who lives in Goshen, is a 1995 graduate of Clinton Christian.

He has faithfully provided The Elkhart Truth and other area media over the years with thorough preseason, in-season and postseason information on the Couriers.

Shirk has poured several years of research and editing into developing his new site.

It includes historical information, schedules, a flashback feature and links to other sites.

Check it out.
