The Westview Warriors earned a trip to Indianapolis for the Class 2A IHSAA boys basketball championship on Saturday, March 29.

Here's a recap of their season so far and what to look for on our website Saturday to follow the action.

The Elkhart Truth sports reporter Anthony Anderson previewed the championship game with season statistics and quotes from both coaches. The Warriors have won 12 straight games, led by senior Jordyn Bontrager averaging 17.2 ppg.

Anderson also spoke to former Westview coach Troy Neely who led the Warriors to back-to-back state championships in 1999 and 2000. Neely "is still showing his eighth grade boys physical education class the videos from those 1999 and 2000 championship games," Anderson wrote, and "telling the students that they can be the next group of Westview players to make it to Indianapolis."

The Elkhart Truth sports editor Bill Beck wrote about Westview standout Jordyn Bontrager and his remarkable transition from urban life to living in Amish country with his grandparents. Bontrager was also recognized as being in the top 60 boys basketball seniors in Indiana as selected by Hoosier Basketball Magazine.
