South Bend Washington powers past Central

SOUTH BEND —Senior Tra’veon Johnson scored 29 points to lead Northern Indiana Conference leader South Bend Washington to a 71-58 victory over Elkhart Central in boys basketball action on Friday, Feb. 7

Central trailed by just three at halftime before the Panthers outscored the Blue Blazers 18-11 in the third quarter to take control.

Coach Troy Noble’s Blazers hit 11 3-point shots in the game — four each by Tre Taylor and Langston Johnson. However, the Panthers were 18-of-28 from the free throw line, while Central was just 3-of-6.

Taylor led Central with 18 points, while Johnson added 14.
