Concord bows out in regional baseball semifinals

Lake Central topped the Minutemen to advance in the Class 4A LaPorte Regional.

LAPORTE — Lake Central used clutch hitting and strong relief pitching to top Concord 5-2 Saturday, June 7, in the semifinals of the Class 4A LaPorte Regional baseball tournament.

Brenden Seren and Alec Olund plated two runs each with two outs and Christian Sullivan fanned six in four no-hit innings.

The Minutemen wound up 15-16 with Nick DeFreese and Zack Stauffer driving in the runs and Matt Williams pitching in relief of injured starter Brenden Curry from second inning on.

Concord fielders made several diving catches.

Lake Central advanced to Saturday night's regional against the winner of Penn against Hobart.
