Penn baseball wins Warsaw tournament, pushes mark to 23-4

With a win Monday, May 26, at South Bend St. Joseph, Penn (23-4, 14-1) would win the Northern Indiana Conference outright.

Penn won the Warsaw Invitational on Saturday, May 24, besting Warsaw 11-6 in the championship game after topping Fort Wayne Snider 16-4 in the first game. On the day, Colin McNamara drove in seven runs and collected six hits for the Kingsmen.

With a win Monday, May 26, at South Bend St. Joseph, Penn (23-4, 14-1) would win the Northern Indiana Conference outright. A win by St. Joe (13-2 in the NIC) forges a tie for the conference title.

At South Bend, Elkhart Christian (16-6-1) wrapped up the regular season with a 13-3 win against Elkhart Christian in the consolation game of the Clay Jim Reinebold Colonial Classic.

Cameron Maxwell plated three runs for the Crimson Chargers. New Prairie beat Memorial 5-4 in the first round.

At Benton, Tony Zook drove in two runs and winning pitcher Austin Christner fanned seven as Fairfield (19-7, 7-3) concluded the regular season with a 4-3 Northeast Corner Conference win against Churubusco.
