Fairfield edges Jimtown 2-1 in baseball

Fairfield edged Jimtown 2-1 on Saturday, May 10, in non-conference baseball.

Austin Christner struck out 14 with 70 strikes in 99 pitches for the triumphant Falcons (15-3). Jimtown pitcher Nick Floyd fanned six.

Zac Kropf had two hits and scored a run for Fairfield. The Falcons scored the decisive run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

At Dunlap, Concord beat South Bend Adams 9-6 and were outlasted 18-15 in eight innings by South Bend Clay.

Stephen Pinarski drove in four and Brenden Curry homered against Adams while Nick DeFreese plated five and Brett Austin four (with a three-run homer) against Clay. 

At Bethel College in Mishawaka, Kenny Bearss drove in four runs and winning pitcher Drew Overmyer struck out 10 and also scored four runs as Elkhart Christian (7-9) routed LaLumiere 17-1.

At Waterford Mills, Ethan Miller drove in six and Cristian Romero five (with a homer) as Bethany Christian blanked South Bend Career Academy 26-0.

At Topeka, Jamar Weaver had three runs, drove in two runs and scored two to help Westview (11-3) beat Goshen 6-3.
