Malcom yet to yield run as collegiate pitcher

Right-hander Cory Malcom is 1-0 with nine strikeouts in nine relief innings.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Cory Malcom, a 2013 Elkhart Central High School graduate, has not allowed a run in his first nine innings as collegiate baseball pitcher.

Malcom, who helped Central earn a Class 4A state championship in 2013, has four relief appearances for the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and nine strikeouts while yielding no runs in nine total innings for a 0.00 earned run average.

The freshman right-hander has allowed four hits and four walks and has a 1-0 record.

On Saturday, March 1, he threw the final two innings and earned his first collegiate win against Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne.

UALR was off to an 8-2 start to the 2014 season.
