Wawasee tramples Whitko in football season opener

Gage Reinhard notched three scores in Wawasee’s win.

SOUTH WHITLEY — Gage Reinhard opened the floodgates for Wawasee early in a 34-12 march over Whitko in the opening night of high school football Friday, Aug. 22.

Reinhard punched in a two-yard touchdown run in the first two minutes of the game. Wawasee went on to score two more touchdowns — including a 70-yard sideline sprint from Clayton Cooks — before Whitko got on the board.

Reinhard capitalized on the Warriors’ 20-6 halftime lead, tossing touchdown passes to Sam Clark and Mylon Betts in the third quarter.
