DeFreese, McNamara, Tucker, Turnock, Beck contribute in North-South baseball series

The South swept three games from the North.

RICHMOND — Concord's Nick DeFreese and Penn's Colin McNamara collected two hits each for the North in three games at the 2014 Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association North-South All-Star Series.

In games played Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, at John Cate Field at McBride Stadium, DeFreese and McNamara both produced two singles. McNamara drove in one run in Game 1.

Marian's Josh Turnock rapped a double in Game 2.

Elkhart Memorial left-hander Jake Tucker gave up two unearned runs in Game 2 and no runs in a two-inning stint in Game 3.

South Bend St. Joseph all-star Tyler Beck smacked a home run and two doubles in Game 2.

The South won all three games — 7-3, 9-7 and 13-9. Brownsburg's Tyler Houston was voted series MVP. McCutcheon’s Logan Sowers in the IHSBCA Player of the Year,
