NorthWood's Frantz nets 17 in all-star action at Anderson

Concord’s Serwatka tallies 14 and Westview’s Aspy 12, while the Warriors’ Jordyn Bontrager is cited for mental attitude.

ANDERSON — Jordyn Frantz scored 17 points to help lead her team to victory, and to lead Elkhart area players who were participating in Indiana Class Basketball All-Star Classic games the weekend of June 20-21 at Anderson University.

Frantz, heading into her senior season at NorthWood, helped Team Wikerson defeat Team Benson 93-87 in a junior girls game. She was her team’s second-leading scorer, following McCutcheon’s Kerstyn Lowery, who had 25 points.

In a boys junior game, Concord’s Filip Serwatka and Westview’s Chander Aspy were on opposite sides. Serwatka netted 14 points in Team Benson’s 115-90 win over Team Wilkerson, which got 12 points from Aspy.

In senior games, Westview’s Jordyn Bontrager scored eight points as his team was nipped 88-86 in boys play, while the Warriors’ Brooke Yoder scored nine points during a 55-49 girls loss. Boys selectee Deric Haynes of Goshen did not play due to injury, but attended anyway.

Bontrager was presented one of the event’s mental attitude awards.

In the ICST Christian High School all-star boys game, Brad Martin of Granger Christian scored seven points to pace area players participating. Clinton Christian’s Madison Yoder added four points, while Clinton’s Cory Eash and Granger’s David McCray and Kenny Post competed as well.
