NEW CASTLE — Jim Powers Jr. has been elected to a four-year term on the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

A 1974 Elkhart Memorial graduate, Powers was among four new members voted to the 26-person board.

The Carmel resident who was elected to the Hall in 2010 joins his Hall of Fame father, Jim Sr. of Elkhart, as just the second father-son duo to have served on the board.

Jim Jr., an Indianapolis businessman, was a standout for the Crimson Chargers during Memorial’s first two seasons of existence while playing for his dad. His 611 points as a senior remains the single-season school record.
