All-Star basketball games in Anderson to include 11 area players

ANDERSON — Several area players are among individuals slated to participate in the sixth annual Class Basketball All-Star Classic Series, set for June 20-21 at Anderson University.

They include Concord’s Filip Serwatka, Goshen’s Deric Haynes and the Westview pair Chandler Aspy and Jordyn Bontrager on the boys side, and NorthWood’s Jordyn Frantz and Westview’s Brooke Yoder on the girls side.

Serwatka, Aspy and Frantz are involved in junior games, and Haynes, Bontrager and Yoder will participate in the events for just-graduated seniors.

Also, five area seniors — Clinton Christian’s Cory Eash and Madison Yoder, and Granger Christian’s Brad Martin, David McCray and Kenny Post — are lined up to play in the fourth annual ICST Christian High School All-Star Boys game at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at AU.

Junior games are planned for Friday, with girls contests at 12:30 and 2 p.m., followed by boys contests at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Attempts are made by organizers to divide the teams equally.

On Saturday, the lineup involving the seniors includes the 1A/2A girls game at 12:30 p.m., the 3A/4A girls at 2 p.m., the 1A/2A boys at 6:30 p.m. and the 3A/4A boys at 8 p.m.

Former Indiana University All-American Kent Benson is again among the organizers and hosts of the event.

All games are scheduled to be shown live and on archived video at broadcastsports.net.
