Penn lacrosse player Mica Shenk wins statewide award

Team also has six All-Region selections and two All-State honorees.

MISHAWAKA — Penn High School senior Mica Shenk has won the Jackie Pitts US Lacrosse Award that is given to one girls player in each state for exemplary skill, mental attitude and spirit.

Shenk also has received an All-State first-team selection, while teammate Nicole Palhamus was named All-State second team.

Both girls were All-Region winners, along with teammates Eldina Jusufija, Kailey Pate and Audrey Whitmire.

Additionally, Penn was selected for the inaugural US Lacrosse Honor the Game of Sportsmanship award, given by the lacrosse umpires in Indiana. The honor is presented to the program whose players, coaches and fans are deemed to exhibit the best sportsmanship in the state.
