Concord baseball's Neveraski, DeFreese, Williams make college commitments

Brett Neveraski is going to Trine University while Nick DeFreese and Matt Williams are heading to Manchester University.

DUNLAP — Three 2014 Concord High School graduates — Brett Neveraski, Nick DeFreese and Matt Williams — have committed to continue their academic and baseball careers at the collegiate level.

Neveraski is bound for Trine University, an NCAA Division III school in Angola, while DeFreese and Williams are headed to Manchester University, an NCAA D-III program in North Manchester.

First baseman Neveraski, a first baseman, DeFreese, a shortstop/pitcher, and Williams, a second baseman/pitcher, are helped Concord win a Class 4A Elkhart Sectional championship in 2014. Coach Jim Treadway's Minutemen went 15-16, bowing to eventual champion Lake Central in the LaPorte Regional semifinals.

Trine is coached by Greg Perschke. The Thunder went 14-26 overall and 9-19 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 2014.

Manchester is coached by Rick Espeset. The Spartans went 26-17 overall and 18-7 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2014.
