Fairfield's Mast, NorthWood duo each bound for LaPorte Regional

The Panthers’ Kennedy Walter and Tori Schwartz are one match from a state finals berth in doubles, while Fairfield’s Mast takes a perfect mark into singles action.

LAPORTE — Fairfield’s Emily Mast and the NorthWood duo of Kennedy Walter and Tori Schwartz will each try to extend their seasons when the LaPorte Regional girls tennis individual singles and doubles tourneys are staged Saturday, June 7, at Kesling Park.

Mast, the Falcon sophomore who enters with a 26-0 record, meets Hammond Morton senior Michaela Egrlova (17-4) in a singles semi at 11 a.m. ET.

The survivor returns at 3 p.m. to face Michigan City Marquette junior Abigail Schmidt (16-1) in the final, with that winner moving on to the following weekend’s state finals.

In doubles, Walter and Schwartz (18-3) have a regional semifinal bye. They’ll play at 3 p.m. against the survivors of the 11 a.m. semifinal sending Columbia City’s Sydney Ford and Macie Hinen (20-1) against Chesterton’s Ellen Kerr and Natalie Petro (10-5).
