Mackenzie Joecken tosses one-hitter as Penn cruises past Clay

The No. 3 Penn Kingsmen topped the Clay Colonials 12-1 in five innings.

MISHAWAKA — Senior Mackenzie Joecken tossed a one-hitter to lead the Penn softball team to a 12-1 victory over South Bend Clay on Friday, May 30, in the title game of the Class 4A Mishawaka Sectional.

Joecken also had a double in the game, while Alyssa Griman and Helle Hixenbaugh each tripled.

The No. 3 Kingsmen (25-4) will host Concord on Tuesday, June 3 in a Class 4A regional championship.
