Penn avenges regular-season loss, shades St. Joseph for girls tennis regional title

Kingsmen move on to South Bend St. Joseph Regional Saturday, May 31, at Leeper Park.

LAPORTE — Penn avenged a regular-season girls tennis loss Wednesday, May 28, with a 3-2 win against South Bend St. Joseph in the championship of the LaPorte Regional.

The Kingsmen (17-3) prevailed in both three-set matches (Haylei Snelson at No. 1 singles and Emma Moon and Lauren McCarthy at No. 2 doubles). 

It was the Penn’s third straight regional team title and 11th overall.

The Kingsmen, who lost to the Indians during the Northern Indiana Conference round robin play, advance to the South Bend St. Joseph Semistate at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Leeper Park. Penn will meet the will of the Logansport/Carmel regional final slated for Thursday, May 29.
