Sierra Geier enjoys big day in Jimtown softball rout

Jimmies score 22 runs in regular-season finale; Penn sweeps doubleheader.

Sierra Geier hit a homer and added five RBIs, while teammate Mikayla Gann also homered, as Jimtown crushed Bethany Christian 22-4 in high school softball Friday, May 23.

Bailey Clark added four hits, and Kaylee Pletcher three for the Jimmies, who enter Class 3A tournament play at 14-12.

At Dunlap, Anna Irons outdueled RaeAnn Miller, as South Bend St. Joseph defeated Concord, 2-1. Irons struck out nine hitters, while both St. Joe runs were unearned. Sabrina Scherer had two hits for the Minutemen

At Penn, the host Kingsmen took two games from Michigan power Lakeshore, beating the Lancers 4-3 and 10-0.

In the opener, Penn scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to post the win. In the second game, Halie Hixenbaugh had two hits — including a triple — and drove in three to pace the Kingsmen offense.
