DUNLAP — The Concord High School community is mourning the loss of Timothy Dawson Jr., the son of head football coach Tim Dawson.

Dawson Jr., died Friday, May 9 at the family's home.

"It's difficult time for Tim's family and we as a school we be very supportive of him," Concord athletic director Dave Preheim said Saturday morning.

Tim Dawson has been the school's head coach for the past 25 seasons, including last fall's run to the Class 5A semistate. Timothy Jr. played for his father before graduating in 2004.

Minutemen staff members met with Dawson Friday evening, according to assistant coach Sam Vaughan.

"He's a strong man," said Vaughan. "We feel like he's been our rock for so long. It's time for us to be his rock."
