Elkhart Memorial clinches tie for NLC girls tennis title

Chargers (11-0) edge Plymouth 3-2 to move to 6-0 in league and will host Northridge on Monday. Mast, Streit each improve to 11-0 as Fairfield beats Goshen.

Eye-opening Elkhart Memorial nipped Plymouth 3-2 at Eastlake Athletic Club to clinch at least a tie for the Northern Lakes Conference title in girls high school tennis Friday, May 9.

The pair of Haley Stouder and Taelor Grose at No. 1 doubles got the decisive point with a 7-5, 6-4 win.

The Crimson Chargers (11-0) are 6-0 in the NLC and host Northridge, which has one league loss, on Monday. A year ago, Memorial went 8-7 overall, 3-4 in the NLC.

At Fairfield, the Falcons' top two singles players, Emily Mast and Lauren Streit, each improved to 11-0 with convincing victories as the hosts beat Goshen 4-1.
