Penn's Watson pitches No. 3 Kingsmen to softball triumph

Mishawaka topples Elkhart Central, Eastside edges Fairfield.

Penn freshman pitcher Danielle Watson tossed a one-hitter and struck out 14, as the Class 4A No. 3-ranked Kingsmen beat South Bend Washington 3-0 in Northern Indiana Conference play.

At Mishawaka, Mishawaka scored five runs in the third inning and went on to defeat Elkhart Central, 5-2, in NIC action. Kate Cobb had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Blazers.

At Benton, Northeast Corner Conference leader Eastside edged Fairfield 3-2, despite a homer and two runs batted in from Falcon sophomore Jalisa Schwartz.
